A seasoned team of bank robbers, including Gordon Jennings (Idris Elba), John Rahway (Paul Walker), A.J. (Hayden Christensen), and brothers Jake (Michael Ealy) and Jesse (Chris Brown) Attica successfully complete their latest heist and lead a life of luxury while planning their next job. When Ghost (Tip T.I. Harris), a former member of their team, is released from prison he convinces the group to strike an armored car carrying $20 million. As the "takers" carefully plot their strategy and draw nearer to exacting the grand heist, a reckless police officer (Matt Dillon) inches closer to apprehending the criminals.
This movie is very good, and i've noticed on this site that African American movies are rated low only because of obvious reasons. Me i watch all types of films, foreign, contemporary, and favorites and i can tell you first hand that this movie is fun with good acting (Beside T.I.'s amour'ed truck scene) and its pretty face paced filled with action and a little drama. So if you're thinking of watching this action thriller don't hesitate. The only thing that kept me from rating it a 8 was T.I. horrible parti mentioned before. Besides that i thought it was pretty damn good. Like i mentioned before its fast paced and has a gritty cop feel to it too. But i don't wanna spoil the movie for you just go see it!
I honestly don't understand why this movie has such a low rating. Even though the plot for this movie is quite overused and is becoming quite cliché, i really thought this movie had good twists and turns in it. And in all honesty, the chase scene with Chris brown was one of my favorite scenes in any movie I've ever seen. Also i thought the shootout in the hotel was a very well thought out scenewell. There are some parts i didn't like though, like T.I being a backstabber was so obvious from the time that he came into the movie that i would have been more surprised if he followed the plan and didn't turn on them. But overall id say this movie is defiantly worth a watch
A respectable but watered-down heist movie that, given the Los Angeles setting, either owes a debt to director Michael Mann or suggests an unusually violent and action-packed episode of "Entourage."
